The advantage of self-catering is that you can bring your own food and drink, and do not have to pay restaurant, hotel or bar prices. You can choose between the panelled dining room for dinners and special meals, or the kitchen for breakfasts, lunches and informal meals. Please bring your own table decorations. For your convenience, Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda all deliver online shopping to Morland. Delivery postcode is CA10 3AZ.
However you may prefer to have some or all of your meals cooked for you, and we can recommend private cooks who can prepare and serve meals from the caterer’s kitchen without needing to use the family kitchen. If a house party has hired their own cook for the weekend and needs somewhere for them to stay, we may also be able to help with that.
For those times when cooking doesn't appeal, there are several excellent options within striking distance of the house. The Mill Yard Café is just outside the front gate in Morland village square, and serves excellent breakfasts, coffees, lunches and teas every day except Monday and Tuesday, and homemade pizzas on Friday nights. It has a private dining room which can be hired and seats up to 24. The owners Rob and Sarah Kite will be able to advise on menus, prices and other details.
The recently re-opened Crown Inn pub in Morland is also in the village square and ready to welcome thirsty guests.
The Strickland Arms in Great Strickland, 3 miles up the road, serves meals every night of the week.
If you prefer to eat out, a variety of excellent options are in range, from a café just a few minutes’ walk away in the village to gastropubs and superb Lake District hotels such as The George and Dragon (Clifton), Another Place (Ullswater), Samling Hotel (Windermere), Haweswater Hotel (Bampton) and Askham Hall.
